Encode finds inspiration in barcodes, but not in the literal sense. A barcode is usually taken as a symbol of a “product of society.” Instead of simply taking barcodes and slapping it all over everything, I took inspiration from its linear qualities.
The lines of a barcode, I think , could be seen as very parallel to that of the lines of run pantyhose. I experimented with the idea of creating deliberate runs, using miss stitch techniques in the construction of the knit fabrics, and creating number-embossed elastic to subtly simulate products of society.
HAVOC. body contour collection
The idea behind this assignment was to design a body contour collection for bridal. I wasn’t really feelin that so this is what I came up with.
A woman in Havoc does not want to be remembered as a delicate flower on her wedding day. She dons her battle armour, preparing for the war ahead. Adorned with structured metal and luxurious corsetry, the bride is sure to intimidate her guests as she boots down the isle.
DISSOLVE. Bra Collection inspired by Veruschka body painting.
“The desire to hide. To be camouflaged. To escape human appearance. To be an animal. An object, not a person. The desire to punish the self. To dissolve the self into the world. To be stripped naked. To petrify the body. To become only matter…”
